Veterans Tribute CTA

Shining Star School

Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy’s goal to prepare students to be college and career ready is in direct support of its mission and vision, by creating a rigorous learning environment through AP and Honors coursework, and by promoting respect and responsibility through public safety programs.

VTCTA increased AP course offerings from five to 13 AP courses and offers the Big History Project, which is a pre-AP course taught at the freshman level that integrates world history, science, STEM and English language arts.

Career readiness is supported by partnerships with local, state and federal law enforcement, fire and medical professionals. Preparing students to be career-ready is promoted by the daily interactions with these committed public service professionals who provide students insight into their respective career fields.

The P.R.I.D.E. Mentoring program partner’s 11th and 12th grade students with a law enforcement or public safety professional from the following agencies: LVMPD, NV Highway Patrol, CCFD, and City of Las Vegas DPS. Students benefit from varied interactions with law enforcement and emergency medical professionals including presentations, demonstrations, hands on activities and teaching in the classroom in preparation for the spring school-wide scenario where junior and senior students apply their knowledge of law enforcement and emergency medical services in three phases demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and dispositions they have acquired in their program and core classes.
